
Meira Pomerantz has lived in Fort Lee, New Jersey for more than forty years. Growing up in Chicago she attended classes at the School of the Art Institute before becoming a fine arts major at University of Illinois but left to explore the possibilities of New York City and continue doing art for many years through self-discovery. Meira graduated from the City College of New York attaining both a BS and MA in teaching though making art was always a part of her life. After retiring several years ago from a long career as a special educator she has been pursuing printmaking techniques, botanical illustration and watercolor.
Meira has been acknowledged with a number of honors and awards for her printmaking. These include First Place in Non-Professional Printmaking in the State of NJ Senior Art 2018 Competition; Second Place for both 2017, 2016 in the State of NJ Senior Art Competition Non-Professional Printmaking; First Place in the Bergen County Senior Juried Art Show Non-Professional printmaking 2016, 2017, 2018.
Meira was honored by the Monmouth Museum as a New Jersey Emerging Artist in 2019-2020 where she was awarded a solo exhibit. Since then she has participated in several exhibits in New Jersey and virtually and hopes to continue showing her artwork.
